Chronic instability of the ankle as a result of damaging distal tibiofibular syndesmosis ligaments is a frequently occurred complication of this joint injuries and requires surgical treatment. Case histories of 45 patients with chronic ankle instability of 5 months-20 years duration have been studied. Allotendografting of distal tibiofibular syndesmosis and its fixation with the Ilizarov device were performed in all the patients.
