Our Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement is based on the International  Committee of Medical Journal Editors' Guidelines for the Management, Reporting, Editing and Publishing of Scientific Papers in Medical Journals  and the recommendations   of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)  https: / / .

 The editorial board of Genij Ortopedii adheres to the COPE Code of Conduct, Best Practice Guidelines for Magazine Editors and the Magazine Publishers Code of Conduc

Mission of the magazine

Journal’s main goal is to contribute to the development of the contemporary medical science via presentation of fundamental and applied original scientific studies to the scientific and practical medical community that would widen and deepen the understanding of the most important problems in the field of traumatology, orthopaedics, and related specialties.  

Our journal provides a direct open access to its content which is based on the principle that the open access option promotes global exchange of knowledge and experience. 

Journal’s strategy

  2. Attraction of highly-cited authors to publish their studies
  3. Selection of manuscripts of scientific interest for readers that will impact on journal citation index in RINC   
  4. Increase in the portion of publications submitted by foreign authors and studies conducted in association with foreign scientists; growth of citations in the journals that are included into global systems of indexing and reputable databases
  5. Improvement of the Journal’s web site in two languages for a greater accessibility by authors and readers

Topics of submitted manuscripts


Priority for publication in the journal "Genij Orthopedii" is given to scientific studies in the field of limb lengthening and reconstruction. However, integrated scientific studies or fusion of research streams as well as interaction of different scientific schools and directions are also welcome.

For mutual interchange of comprehensive knowledge, the list of subjects for publication has been expanded and is intended for both researchers and practitioners in traumatology, orthopaedics and related specialties:

Publications in the journal "Genij Ortopedii" are indexed for citation by authors and journals. Citation index is a numerical indicator that characterizes the significance of the article and is calculated basing on subsequent publications citing this article.

The journal is indexed in the following systems:

Russian science citation index – a bibliographic and abstract index, implemented as a database accumulating information about publications of Russian scientists in Russian journals and foreign scientific journals.

Scopus – the world largest unified abstract database, which indexes more than 21,000 scientific, technical and medical journals for about 5,000 international publishers.

Google Scholar - a free available search engine that indexes full texts of scientific publications of all formats and disciplines. The index of the Google Academy includes the majority of peer-reviewed online journals of Europe and America of the largest scientific publishing houses.

Scopus - is the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature: scientific journals, books and conference proceedings.

 Publishing Ethics

The Editorial board

1)      remains true to the principles of scientific honesty and defends freedom of opinions;

2)       bears responsibility for all the material published;

3)      aims to satisfy the needs of readers and authors;

4)      publishes full updated instructions for authors regularly according  to international standards;

5)      decides on acceptance or rejection of the manuscript that is based on the significance, originality, clearness, and reliability of information and on the conformity with the Journal’s topics;

6)      optimizes regularly the Editorial membership;

7)      uses clear procedures in the operation process that would provide high quality publications including an objective unbiased and timely peer-review process by the specialists that possess required qualifications and statistical expertise;

8)      accepts submitted studies with participation of human subjects or animals for peer-review if they conform with the international ethical standards;

9)      protects confidentiality of the information obtained in the studies and of other professional activities of its authors;

10)  pays attention to the issues of intellectual property and uses the instruments for detection of plagiarism in the manuscripts submitted for publication;

11)  guaranties that the commercial interests do not impact on the editorial decisions;

12)  encourages discussions, considers critical comments on the published works, and is open for studies that  dispute the previous publications in the journal;

13)  is ready to publish corrections, explanations, disproof and apologies;

14)  does not make improper attempts to influence on the Journal’s rating by stating any increased indices.

Responsibilities of the Publisher

The publisher follows the principles and procedures that facilitate the implementation of ethical standards by the Editors, Reviewers and Authors of the journal "Genij Ortopedii" in accordance with the requirements.

The publisher confirms that the potential profit from advertising does not have influence on the decisions of the editorial board.

The publisher supports the Journal's editors in handling claims to the ethical aspects of the published material and helps to interact with other journals and/or publishers.

The publisher promotes good practice in conducting research and implementing standards.

The publisher provides an appropriate specialized legal support, if necessary.

 Publication fee

There is no publication fee for all the authors. 

The editorial board does not charge for open access, peer-reviewing, preparation of manuscripts for publication and electronic depositing of articles. 

Access to the articles remains free.

Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to the editorial office of the "Genius of Orthopedics" journal undergo a mandatory double blind review (reviewers do not know the names of the authors, the authors of the manuscript do not know the reviewers and receive anonymous comments on the reviews sent by the executive secretary of the journal).

  1. The manuscripts are reviewed by members of the editorial board, as well as by independent reviewers who are leading specialists in the field of traumatology and orthopedics. The decision on the selection of the reviewer is made by the editor-in-chief, deputy editor-in-chief or executive secretary of the editorial board. The average review period is 3 to 4 weeks. The term can be extended at the request of the reviewer.
  2. Each original article undergoes scientific review and is also reviewed by a statistician.
  3. The reviewer has the right to refuse to review the manuscript if there is an obvious conflict of interest.
  4. Upon completion of the review of the manuscript, the reviewer fills out a formalized form and, if necessary, gives comments and recommendations for improving the manuscript, and also makes the following recommendations:

• the manuscript can be accepted for publication;

• the manuscript requires revision and re-review;

• the manuscript requires revision and can be accepted for publication without re-reviewing;

• the manuscript cannot be accepted for publication;

• the manuscript should be sent for reviewing to another specialist.

  1. If the review contains recommendations for correction and revision, the executive secretary of the journal sends the text of the review to the author with a proposal to take into account the comments and prepare a new version of the article or argue them (partially or completely). ) with discussion. The re-edition of the article should not take more than two months from the moment the author receives an e-mail about the need to make changes. The revised article is sent by the authors for re-review.
  2. In case the authors refuse to modify the materials, they must notify the editor in a writing form about their refusal to publish the article. If the authors do not submit the modified version within 3 months from the date of receiving the review comments, the editorial office removes the manuscript from the register. In such situations, the authors are notified of the expiration of the time allotted for revision.
  3. If authors and reviewers have unresolved contradictions regarding the manuscript, the editorial board directs the manuscript for additional review. An additional reviewer is also appointed in case of conflicting recommendations for the publication of the article from the originally appointed reviewers. In conflict situations, the decision is made by the editor-in-chief or collegially at the next meeting of the editorial board.
  4. The decision to refuse publication of the manuscript is made at the meeting of the editorial board in accordance with the recommendations of the reviewers. An article not recommended for publication by the decision of the editorial board is not accepted for reconsideration. Authors are notified of rejection by email.
  5. The original texts of the reviews are kept in the editorial office of the journal for 5 years.



Open Access Policy

Our journal provides a direct free access to its content following the principle that a free open access to study results benefits global exchange of knowledge.

Under the terms of an open license all copyrights remain with authors of articles. Authors have the right to archive their articles on this journal site, thematic full-text databases of scientific publications, if the authors are referred to the journal “Genij Ortopedii” as the primary source of the publication.

When referring to an article from our journal, it is necessary to indicate the DOI assigned to it.

When quoting and any other use of the materials of this journal site, users are obliged to refer to the source (the publication, its authors and the journal).
